Sales Description:

Otango ISF, Star/D-OC is a charming 2019 16.1hh KWPN-NA gelding by the legendary sire Contango, Preferent, and out of the Grand Prix mare Cayenne W., Sport/D-OC, by Carabas. In 2022, Otango was awarded First Premium and the Star predicate at his KWPN-NA Keuring based on his good quality of conformation and movement. He has also enjoyed big success at Dressage at Devon, winning the USDFBC Current Year Foal Final in 2019 as well as the Two-Year-Old Colts class in 2021 with scores above 81%. Now started professionally under saddle, Otango is a sweet character that enjoys working, has three comfortable gaits, and hacks out nicely in company. He has the versatility to excel in a variety of disciplines and would be a fun project for a competent Amateur or Professional to bring along in the direction of their choosing. In the barn, Otango is well-versed in the day-to-day tasks of grooming, clipping, and bathing. Radiographs available.

Sire Contango stood as one of the rare Preferent stallions in North America, an honor awarded by the KWPN to stallions that produce offspring with exceptional qualities in movement and conformation. A legend in his own time, Contango competed successfully as a Grand Prix Show Jumper and subsequently won over 30 Grand Prix Dressage classes, including at Dressage at Devon. Contango’s sons and daughters inherit their sire’s athletic ability, gaits, and versatility, and have been successful up to the FEI levels – including the Olympic horses Ravel and Caravella.

Dam Cayenne W., bred by noted Grand Prix trainer and rider Wolfram Wittig, achieved wonderful success as a young horse in Europe. In 2006, she was Reserve Bundeschampion of the 4-Year-Old Riding Horses. At the World Young Horse Championships in Verden in 2007, Cayenne emerged as the undisputed winner of the 5-Year-Old Riding Horses. With 9s on trot and general impression, Cayenne’s final score of 8.82 secured her the World Champion title. She would continue a successful career in sport through the Grand Prix level before being sourced as an important part of ISF’s broodmare band. Her sire, Carabas, was successful through Grand Prix level and represented Denmark at the 2009 European Championships.
